FOOD: Puppy Food

(Each pup eats differently so 1/2cup food a day, and can be feed 3X a day. If pup is being fussy on eating sometimes adding little warm water my help (All my dogs have been on this food, this is my choice as a breeder)

Crating is not cruel it will teach pup to learn bladder control and keep pup safe, and learn to settle when you can't watch them.

CRATE TRAINING TIPS: You need to start an hour after you have arrived home with your puppy from picking it up from me, plan a schedule for the first week.

Start as soon as you get your pup home, introduce them around outside first then inside and show them around, the pup may be scared but will get to learn fast that this is its new home now.

Then have some fun time, pup will start to get tired and i know you want to just hold them. This is time to put pup in its crate, and always make it fun by giving little food or treat in crate or safe toy! And do this through out the day, i like the pups to see me when they are in crate during day. So i will put the crate in family room or kitchen. And for evening the pup will stay in that area, i don't like crates in my room but this is your choice.

For evening pup goes out for last bathroom time, and you can set alarm and take pup out about 4 hrs later, or wait and see when pup wakes you up. Some pups can hold it longer depends how much they have drank before bed. After outside time pups need to learn it is still time to sleep, so back in till it is wake time.

If you have to go to work and leave pup, that will be fine they will learn as long as you do have someone come in to let pup out after couple hours. As pup is to young at 8 wks, to hold their bladder for full day.

GROOMING: you can have very different types of grooming, you may want to take pup in around 12wks for just a puppy trim. When pup is older a good shorter cut may help get rid of the puppy coat so the adult coat can start coming in and coat will come in thicker once the puppy coat is gone.

Pups need to get use to handling so start touching and massaging their feet and ears around eyes. Also get a finger toothbrush and massage their mouth, also if their having a nipping time this is good time to do that. They may think again when they start their nipping back fired and they get their teeth brushed.

TEETH; I brush my dogs teeth with putting tooth brush in warm water to soften brush and put COCONUT OIL on it and they love that taste and this is very healthy.

EAR CLEANER, if your pup or dog is getting dirty ears just on the skin area can just wipe with a baby wipes or if they smell bad it may have wax build up and you want to get them clean before infection appears. If your pup or dog has bad odour coming from ear. Apply the liquid ear cleaner in ear channel and massage ear well and wipe out with cotton pads, they will shake their ears which is fine. If dogs ear appear very red, then they may have infection and you can put us POLYSPORIN eye/ear drops in twice a day for 7 days, if it does not clear go see vet.

Please be prepared when getting a pup they are very cute, but first couple weeks can be very challenging at first but will be well worth it in end. I think the worst part is the puppy biting you need to show pup who is boss, and don't be afraid to change your voice so they can learn you are not happy. Also potty training the main thing is outside lots, and you need to go out with pup and teach them it takes time but it will come as their bladder grows and they learn to control it.

Pups need lots of chores or they get bored, teach them fetch and short training time. If your pup gets really nippy and little aggressive, it is probably getting bored, give it a bully bone or a Dog Snuffle Mat or walk time or might just be quiet time in crate with a chew to settle it down.

PUPPY BITING

This is a natural behavior for puppies so it will become an issue at some point during puppy hood. To stop the biting and nipping teach puppy bite inhibition as soon as you get your puppy home. It's simply best way of training puppy that biting is not OK.

By biting each other during play, puppies learn that biting too hard hurts their siblings or mother and that stops play. That process is known as bite inhibition, its how they learn and that's what we need to mimic in order to teach to bite softly and then not at all. Puppies naturally practice biting behavior at 3-12 wks. And when puppies go to new home, this means we interrupt this crucial bite stage.

To prevent you need to invest in some chew toys and fun games.

FIRST the hard part let your puppy bite on your hand and soon as he bites SCREECH LOUD OUCH!! and immediately leave for 1-2 min, puppy's understand the noise their litter mates would make. When you return continue play let them bite you again, repeat again and leave room. DO THIS OVER AND OVER!

You will notice the biting will get softer but remember not to leave longer then 2 min, or the puppy will have forgotten what he did wrong.

Once he has got this and is biting with very little pressure, you can teach them "NO BITE" command by redirecting to a chew toy.
